The news is not good my friends. The G-summit was held in Canada this last weekend. 2009 and 2010 summits, talks focused on "finding a common approach to stabilising the world economy and stimulating grow in the mist financial upheaval". After which the G-20 summit was held. (Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, from 20 major economies.) At BOTH summits Obama was told that their various Country's were broke and were cutting spending. You would think BO could take a hint. He would look at nations such as Greece and not want the nation that elected him to be the head honcho, to go down that road. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and European Union told BO to stop spending. If he won't listen to us, why should he listen to the rest of the world. I'll tell you why. The definition of a depression is it must be world-wide.
Twelve months into recovery from such a deep recession, this is a terrible performance. (Maybe it's me, I didn't know we had a recovery.)The economy must add 13 million private sector jobs by the end of 2013 to bring unemployment down to 6%, and President Obama’s policies are not creating conditions for businesses to hire,” said Peter Morici, a University of Maryland economist and former chief economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
More worrisome is whether the hundreds of billions of dollars of government spending on economic stimulus has produced nothing more than unprecedented deficits rather than the millions of private sector jobs promised. And if that’s the case, is the U.S. headed for a double-dip recession despite all that spending. Morici believes the Obama administration needs to strengthen its focus on job creation. (No kidding.)
“Much stimulus money was squandered. Large grants to build green buildings don’t generate many new jobs except for a few architects, summer research grants for professors are even less effective, and subsidies for windmills and solar panels created lots of jobs in China,” he added. AMEN See "Stimulus"
Then we have the Dodd-Franks Bill. "Overhaul legislation negotiators wrapped up early Friday morning would constitute the biggest overhaul of U.S. financial regulations since the 1930s. The legislation, broadly, is designed to close the regulatory gaps and end the speculative trading practices that contributed to the 2008 financial market crisis. (This does not include ANY regulations on our buddies, Freddie and Fannie.)
Obama tells us that Wall Street Reform is looking out for us. This is crap! THEY LIE! No one knows what is in the Dodd-Franks Bill. Yet the two geniuses who have their names on the bill, have been in charge of Fannie and Freddie (since 1989) Please click on "Finance", to learn the saga of Freddie and Fannie.
Obama is enlisting activists and labor leaders in a push for comprehensive immigration legislation that will showcase Republican opposition and include a speech by the president.
The strategy was discussed during a meeting Monday by a range of prominent labor leaders and activist groups. Participants said Obama reiterated his support for immigration legislation but noted the political realities that have stalled it in Congress. (Stalled... thank the Republicans, the "party of No". BO forgot, yet again, that Democrats control the House and Senate.) See "Immigration"
Now is a good time to remind you: "In a video to supporters ..... sure that the young people, African Americans, Latinos and women , who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again and deliver for democrats in November." (BO 5-01-10)
Then there is the confirmation hearings of Helena Kagen, She once called the hearings “a vapid and hollow charade.” Kagan’s time as dean of the Harvard Law School during which military recruiters were banned from the main part of campus.
Elena Kagan is a liberal political careerist, not a judicial scholar. The record shows her sense of politics can outweigh her respect for the law and the Constitution when it comes to certain issues she cares about. Obama picked her (scary enough), and he flat out ignores the Constitution when it suits him.
Cap and Trade is front and center again. Obama made a "very passionate and...effective argument" to a group of a bipartisan senators at the White House today that energy legislation should include a 'price on carbon.' That's what supporters call the fees that businesses would have to pay for any carbon emissions.
Republican critics use different phrases. They call it a "national energy tax" or "cap and tax," and contend that businesses will pass along any additional costs to consumers. (The Republicans are 100% right. Every cost of business gets passed down the consumer. America prospers with the lower taxes, elimination of needless regulations, and the expansion of small business loans.)
